Steam generation

Wärtsilä's natural gas or heavy fuel oil driven engines and power plants can be equipped with efficient heat recovery systems for steam generation. The applications are usually for industrial purposes where the steam generation equipment can be integrated with the customer's existing system or built as an independent separate system. Steam pressures of 7 - 10 bar are very common and are used directly in the customer's main industrial processes. Steam at higher pressures can of course be produced according to customer needs.

Wärtsilä combined heat and power solutions for steam generation are based on prefabricated modular design for fast-track delivery.

The steam generated by the prime mover can also be used for steam turbines as a gas or heavy fuel oil engine combined cycle plant. Depending on the application details the combined cycle adds 7 - 9% of additional power from the plant with electrical efficiencies of 50% or higher.
