An entire power plant was transported by trucks from Ghana to Benin.

The Takoradi power plant was dismantled, packed and transported on trucks from Ghana to Benin.

Parakou

The Parakou power plant is located some 800 km from the original power plant at Takoradi in Ghana. Parakou has a population of some 100,000 and is the third biggest city in Benin. It is the trade centre of the grain and textile industries in the country. The city suffers many a lot of power cuts and communication cuts (telephone lines). Parakou power plant was handed over to the customer in February 2005.

 The power plant at Natitingou is located approximately 1000 km from the original power plant in Takoradi. Natitingou is located in a rural area The electrical demand is about 2 MW. It has a population that exceeds 50,000. There are few industries in the area. Nearby you can find some iron ore and chromium deposits. Natitingou power plant was handed over in April 2005.

Porto Nova

The Porto Novo power plant is located some 500 km from Takoradi in Ghana. Porto Novo is the administrative capital of Benin, whereas the financial capital is Cotonou about 50 km from Porto Novo. The Porto Novo plant will be handed over in June 2005.
