Tranås Energi Ab in Sweden, subsidiary of Tranås Energi Elförsäljning Ab distributes and sells electricity, district heat and energy solutions. Tranås Energi’s business idea is to offer electricity, district heat and energy solutions to satisfy their customers' needs continuously at a competitive price. Agreed quality and high efficiency are the strengths of the company.

Tranås Energi is owned 100% by the municipality of Tranås. It has about 10 000 customers who need 175 GWe/year and about 690 district heat customers who need 125 GWth/year. Annual sales total about SEK 115 million and they have 36 employees. Tranås Energi buys the fuel from different companies, who source the fuel from sawmills; the power plant uses 450 m3/day and 90.000 m3/year of fuel. The facility has two fuel storages: a 400 m3 container and a 2500 m3 building.

This boiler plant reduces the use of oil in heating and electricity for district heat production.

Wärtsilä solution
Wärtsilä's patented rotating BioGrate combustion technology is especially suitable for burning wet biomasses, such as wood residues, wood chips, bark and sawdust. The plants either produce thermal energy for district heating or for drying and other industrial processes, or they can be built as combined heat and power plants.
