Designs for offshore and special vessels are most commonly one-off designs that match the expectations of a certain customer. Recent examples of such ships designed by Wärtsilä are pipe-laying vessels, pipe-laying barges, offshore construction vessels, a revolutionary icebreaking research vessel and an innovative jack-up for the installation of offshore windmills.
