Wärtsilä wants to reflect its values “Energy, Excellence and Excitement” also in sponsoring. This year we have sponsorship agreement with a team of young professionals.

The Finnish 49er sailors Lauri Lehtinen and Heikki Soininen form the Wärtsilä-Arcada team. The team is included in the training programs for the Finnish Sailing Federation and Finnish Olympic Committee. Their short-term goal is to win Finnish championships in 2007 and to compete as the Finnish team in the Olympic Games in China in 2008.
“These sailors are young, enthusiastic, and dedicated; they are capturing the opportunities and want to be the best in their field. These are words that describe Wärtsilä very well and values that fit into our corporate values: energy, excellence and excitement,” says Mikael Simelius, Wärtsilä’s VP, Marketing Communications and Branding.
