SMM

Environmentally and economically sound integrated solutions
- Meet us on stand no. 223 in Hall A4!

Wärtsilä is proud to announce that at this year’s SMM exhibition, we will introduce several significant new advances in the market, each of which strongly supports our commitment to providing environmentally and economically sound integrated solutions for the marine industry.

At Wärtsilä we understand that knowing how the world is interconnected is the key to long-term success and sustainability. This is why we have to understand the big picture, and why we spend a lot of time thinking about wholes rather than parts. For these reasons we regularly model and analyze a wide range of possible future scenarios. At the SMM exhibition we will, for the first time publicly, share the results of this work in an extensive study called “Shipping Scenarios 2030”.

Since our focus is on the big picture, and as we explore how the future could be shaped, it should be no surprise that whatever we create is both environmentally and economically sound.. Amongst our many achievements, fuel flexibility stands out in this respect. It enables owners and operators to opt for the most suitable fuel, taking into account local environmental restrictions, fuel price variations, and fuel bunkering availability.

We at Wärtsilä believe that gas will become increasingly popular as a fuel source, and Wärtsilä’s ability to successfully utilize gas as a main fuel for marine operations has already been proven in a variety of reference installations. Gas is a practical and attractive option at a time when prices for liquid fuels are uncertain, and environmental requirements are becoming increasingly stringent.

We believe that over the long term, the smartest and most competitive solutions are also the most sustainable and interconnected ones. Nothing functions in isolation - whether from other things, from global economic forces, or from the natural environment. And simply put, this is why we are, first and foremost, an integrated solutions provider. Furthermore, the technologies that we develop are designed for both newbuildings and as retrofits to existing installations.

The world is a dynamic, rapidly changing place, and many of these changes are difficult to predict. What we do know is that everything we do is profoundly connected with it. Solution integration, as we see it, stretches from bow to stern and well beyond.
