18 months
WHO CAN APPLY?
Target group – Newly graduated persons with 0 to 2 year work experience.
Education – Excellent study record, B.Sc., M.Sc. or PhD. Fluent English skills.
Attitude – International mindset, open to new challenges. “Can do” attitude with goal orientation, commitment, energy, innovation and cultural sensitivity. Willingness to work in a global environment. Motivation to become a world class player.
WHAT DO WE OFFER?
The Wärtsilä R&D Professionals Program offers you a flying start to your R&D career at a large global company. R&D is present in the following countries: Finland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Switzerland and UK.
The 18 month program allows you to work in different countries and experience diverse work cultures. During the program you will undertake various roles and drive a real project across our international R&D organisation to develop broad experience and knowledge. You will get to know various functions of Wärtsilä and gain deeper experience in global R&D.
WHAT KIND OF TASKS DO YOU GET DURING THE PROGRAM?
The tasks are focused on development and relate to the following themes:
- Wärtsilä strategies, products, markets and way of working
- Reciprocating internal combustion engine technology
- Product design and development
- Computer Aided Engineering (CAE)
- Testing and validation
- Marine and stationary application technologies
- Customer care
- Networking with customers, suppliers, research institutions etc.
- Project work
COMPETENCE DEVELOPMENT & TRAINING DURING THE PROGRAM
The program includes a training concept covering not only technology but also courses related to leadership, change management and strategic thinking. You will be assigned a mentor and receive continuous coaching and career planning.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE PROGRAM?
After the program you will have good technical skills and solid understanding of international engineering business logic. We’ll provide all participants a permanent position in Wärtsilä. You will also have the opportunity to participate in Wärtsilä PhD. Program. The rest is up to you.
WHEN TO APPLY?
The first Wärtsilä R&D Professionals Program started in September 2008. The schedule for the next program will be announced later.
