Potential candidates have:
Education - Strong academic track record – recent M.Sc. in Econ. or Tech. majoring in Finance or accounting. Fluent English skills.
Attitude - International mindset, opento new challenges. “Can do” attitude with goal orientation. Flexible and diplomatic personality. Willingness to travel and work abroad during and after the program. Motivation to become a world class player.
WHAT DO WE OFFER?
The Wärtsilä Future Business Leader Program offers you a flying start to your financial career at a large global company. Our 12 month trainee program allows you to work in different countries and experience diverse work cultures. During the program you will undertake various roles and real cases across our international finance organisation to develop broad experience and knowledge of financial management and reporting. You will get to know various functions of Wärtsilä and gain deeper experience from at least two different Businesses/Divisions.
WHAT KIND OF TASKS DO I GET DURING THE PROGRAM?
The tasks are focused on development and relate to the following themes:
- Wärtsilä strategies, products, markets and way of working
- Financial accounting
- Management accounting
- Product/Market/Customer profitability
- Treasury and risk management
- Tax issues.
COMPETENCE DEVELOPMENT & TRAINING DURING THE PROGRAM
The program includes a training concept covering not only finance but also courses related to leadership, change management and strategic thinking. You will be assigned a mentor and receive continuous coaching and career planning.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE PROGRAM?
After the program you will have good financial skills and solid understanding of international engineering business logic. Our goal is to provide all participants a permanent position in Wärtsilä. The rest is up to you.
Our previous Future Business Leader Program started in March 2007 and ended in September 2008. The participants are currently working in different challenging positions in our Finance organisation around the globe. Typical positions are business, country and project controllers and positions in global process development.

The next program will begin in January 2009 and the application time has just ended. Information about the following program will be presented on this page at the end of 2009.
